A thawing hint

I just want to share a trick I tried today. I got the Stomboli out of the freezer last night. This morning it was still frozen solid. I worry about leaving food out on the counter all day to thaw because of bacteria etc. It's been taking about 48 hrs. to thaw my meals in the fridge. So, today out of desperation, I brought up a small cooler and put the stromboli in it. When I got home at 5:00 it was thawed but still cool, not warm. I think this will work with our other meals too. I'll try it and let you know.

i've had the same problem. this sounds like a good solution. any ice at all in the cooler? but if my people die, i blame you...

I put a small ice pack like you would put in a lunch box.

Update: Today on my way out the door, I put the taco casserole in the little cooler, no ice. When I got home 10 hours later, it was still in its icy state and I had to defrost it a little before I could cook it. So, I think taking it out the night before and putting it in the cooler would be perfect. I'll try that one and update you again, unless someone does it before me.

The cooler is smart. I haven't had thawing issues, though!
